<image:title>Upcoming - April Monthly - SAVE THE DATE - FLUX: A Monthly Movement Ritual April 27 | 12:00PM - 3:00PM @ Beaumont Studios | $20 – $35 (Sliding scale) Presented by The Falling Company and Higher Education, FLUX is a space for movement, music, and connection—a place to dance freely, without expectations. Join us on the last Sunday of each month, starting from April. Each session begins with a guided movement exploration, led by Marissa Wong who will introduce different ways to engage with movement. This is followed by an open dance jam with DJ, Paul Sacamano, where you can move as you wish—solo, in partnership, or with the energy of the room. FLUX is open to all bodies and abilities—no dance experience is required. It’s about exploration, not performance. Contact us at info@thefallingcompany.com if you face barriers when it comes to exploring and enjoying dance. Stay tuned for the final event details and registration method!</image:title>

<image:caption>How did you feel when you first heard about the project of Family Room? I felt that this could be an interesting show and was proud of Marissa for having the guts to have this approach. After watching the show last year, what was your initial reaction? I was a little shock of the portrayal of Irene, but then looking back, may have been quite accurate. Can you share an early memory of Marissa performing? Yes, I always felt quite involved with her dance career and always had tears watching her at "Balerina school" (inside joke). What aspect of growth did you see in The Falling Company over the last 3 years since Marissa took over? I saw a growth in maturity when she got on with The Falling Company.</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did you feel when you first heard about the project of Family Room? Trepidation and worry about how I would be portrayed. What other people might think of me. After watching the show last year, what was your initial reaction? I cried. I didn’t realize how much pain Marissa was in. I felt regret I didn’t know what she needed or how to give it to her. Can you share an early memory of Marissa performing? She danced at a Christmas performance at Caulfield, her first dance school. What aspect of growth did you see in The Falling Company over the last 3 years since Marissa took over? More mentoring opportunities, a safe space for new dancers.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Photo by Sewari Campillo Family Room (preview excerpt) Co-presented with New Works and The Dance Centre, Family Room recreates a studio apartment through a set design of furniture and home decor. This set design is the foundation for a series of solos to interact with the same household objects, each object representing a relationship, dynamic, and history between different family members. Featuring dancers Tamar Tabori, Justin Calvadores, and Shana Wolfe alongside choreography by Marissa Wong. This excerpt will be followed by a discussion with the artists, led by mental health professional Brie-Ana Laboucane. The full work will premiere in The Dance Centre’s 2023-24 season. April 26th, 2023 | 6pm | @ The Dance Centre | Free Admission</image:caption>
