the distraction of you

The distraction of you is an evolving movement practice that challenges our relationship to vulnerability, patience, and uncomfortability. Through a structured framework, the performers are required to constantly examine how expectations connect to effort and approach. While stripping the masks that prevent honest movement, the dancers confront the accompanied range of emotions, including holding patterns, defensive strategies, and the practice of letting go.

A commissioned work choreographed by Marissa Wong on Fullstop Dance (San Francisco). This piece was created during a choreographic swap between Marissa Wong and Katie Florez.
